Dashing Trough December
DECEMBER NEWS
In December students are focusing on various strategies and skills as they read independently or listen to a read-aloud during our Reader's Workshop. Students are learning new vocabulary words, improving comprehension, and working on fluency. During the teacher read aloud, students are enjoying Wonder. During this time I take the opportunity to utilize skills that have been taught. Students predict, infer, make connections, ask questions, and have "book talk".
In writing, we will publish our non-fiction text writing and include several nonfiction text features to keep the reader interested. Students will demonstrate they are able to write sequentially, with description, and be able to compare and contrast with various subtopics.
In Math we are continuing multiplication. Practice multiplication facts each night. Parents can play games, use dice or flashcards for a quick ten-minute review daily. We continue to play many Everyday Math games to strengthen students' addition/subtraction and now multiplication/division facts.
Have a beautiful Holiday Season!
