Amazing April

Throughout the month of April, students will celebrate National Poetry Month by creating a variety of poems.  They will learn about many elements of poetry.  The children will read many mentor text poems to explore the structure and craft of poetry.  Be on the lookout for a special gift coming home.  The students’ creativity is sure to come through in all of their masterpieces!

As a class, we will continue reading The One and Only Ivan.  The students are making various connections, discussing character traits, and using context clues to define new vocabulary. 

We will work through Unit 6 in our math lessons during this month.  Students will continue to practice their basic facts, and they will also work through more complex multiplication computation.  Students will practice reading and understanding what is asked of them in order to solve word problems.  It is still very important for the children to consistently review their basic multiplication facts to ensure that they are automatic.

We will continue our discovery of Water and Climate in Science.
