All About Third Grade
Welcome Terrific Third Graders!
Third Grade will be an exciting year! You will be learning about many interesting subjects. You will be readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists and historians. Third Grade will be fun and filled with learning!
In Reading, students will be reading many novels likeFreckle Juice, Fish in a Tree, The Chocolate Touch, The One and Only Ivan, Because of Winn Dixie, and Wonder. They will also be reading many other chapter books on their individual levels. Students will have an opportunity to share their reading with partners and in small groups.
In Writing, students will be excited about writing. They will be working on many types of writing such as personal narratives, persuasive essays, and informational reports. Students will also be writing fictional stories, fairytales and poetry throughout the year.
In Math, students will be learning multiplication, division, fractions, measurement, area, perimeter, geometry and multistep word problems. They will be using technology and critical thinking skills to solve problems.
In Science, students will be completing many exciting hands-on experiments. The Science Units are Water and Climate, Motion and Matter and Life Systems...Plants and Animals.
In Social Studies, students will be learning about the three branches of the United States Government...Legislative, Executive and Judicial. They will become Bordentown Experts by learning about famous people and places in Bordentown History. Students will also learning about map skills and reading maps.
