Helping Our Students Arrive and Dismiss Safely

Thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe, organized, and efficient for all of our students. Please review the procedures below and make sure your child knows where to go each morning and afternoon.

Morning Arrival

Our regular school day begins at 8:30 a.m.

There is no supervision on school grounds before 8:30 a.m. For your child’s safety, students may not be dropped off or left on school property before that time unless they are enrolled in an approved before-school care program.

Walkers

Walkers should enter through the front door of the school.

Bus

Students arriving by bus will also enter through the front/main entrance.

Students Arriving by Car

To keep traffic moving safely and prevent conflicts with buses, ONLY RIGHT-HAND TURNS are permitted at both drop-off locations.

Drop-Off Location #1 MIS Driveway

For cars traveling toward Farnsworth from the highways:

• Make a RIGHT TURN ONLY into the MIS driveway.
• Pull into the designated drop-off area.
• Staff members will assist students between 8:30–8:40 a.m.
• CBS students will be escorted safely across the street by staff.

Drop-Off Location #2 Hopkinson Street

For cars traveling away from Farnsworth:

• Make a RIGHT TURN  onto Hopkinson Street.
• Drive to the CBS left-side gate entrance, near the end of the building.
• Students may be dropped off curbside (Hopkinson is one way only).
• Students should then walk to MIS using the crosswalk to cross the street safely.

Important Traffic & Safety Reminder

Parents using the morning car line may use either the MIS driveway or the CBS Hopkinson Street drop off point depending on preference.

NO LEFT TURNS are permitted during arrival from 8:30–8:40 a.m., Monday–Friday, including:

• No left turn from Crosswicks into the MIS driveway
• No left turn into the CBS Hopkins Street drop-off area

These restrictions help prevent traffic backups and, most importantly, keep our students and buses safe.

Afternoon Dismissal

Regular school day ends at 3:00 p.m.

Half-day dismissal is at 12:45 p.m.

Note that there is no supervision on school grounds after 3:00 p.m. Students may not remain on school property after dismissal unless they are supervised by a parent/guardian or are enrolled in an approved after-school program. This includes use of the MIS playground. 

All MIS Students will be dismissed through the main entrance doors. Parents picking up should park and meet students in front of the building. 

Need Before- or After-School Care?

If your child needs supervision before 8:30 a.m. or after 3:00 p.m., please consider enrolling them in the CHILD Program through the CDA.
