January has Arrived!

Happy New Year! We welcome January with open arms!

As we soar into January, we will begin new units. In reading class, we will dive into the unit of Author Study. Students will study a variety of authors and their techniques. In writing, we will read literature and develop literary essays based on our ideas and thinking.

In math class, we just wrapped up chapter 3. We will circle back to fractions. In our chapter 4 math unit, the students will dive into extended multiplication. They will estimate products, partition rectangles, use partial products, and solve multiplication money stories. Students will also be introduced to the lattice method for multiplication.

At the end of the month, progress reports will be sent home.

Students continue to master content in all areas!

Keep up the good work!

All homework assignments will be copied daily into each student agenda. I will ensure that students copy homework correctly. Myself or a teacher assistant will check homework agendas daily and initial them. Parents and students should refer to the student agenda daily for homework assignments. The student planner will be the main source for homework communication.

Look out for weekly messages and reminders through Remind.  I will be using Remind as my main source of parent communication. You are welcome to respond back and communicate with me through the app as well.
