May Curriculum Update

What are we learning in May?

 Math- In chapter 7, we are learning about customary units of measurement with capacity- Gallon, Quarts, Pints, Cups. Also, we will learn about multiplying fractions, and as always, build our problem solving skills. 

Reading- We are reading Historical Information books and studying a time period in history. Students will take notes, learn to research from multiple sources, and then show what they have learned on a poster organized with information about the time period. 

Writing-  We learning how to write poetry. Students will learn how to write haikus, limericks, free verse, concrete, acrostic, to name a few... The unit will end with students publishing a book of poetry that will also include an "inspired by" poem. 

Science- Students are energized to learn about Energy in our science unit. Students are learning about how circuits work, different types of circuits, magnetism, kitnetic and potential energy concepts, as well as, light and sound.
