My name is Mrs. Jarka and this is my 11th year teaching at Clara Barton and MacFarland Intermediate Schools.  I received my Bachelor’s in Art Education from Richard Stockton College of NJ and The Art Institute of Philadelphia.

During art class your child will explore the wonderful world of art through a variety of projects and activities.  The activities are designed to expose your child to a variety of art mediums, techniques, history, culture and technology. Grades are determined by individuality, effort, skill, behavior and participation. All of our projects will contain the necessary and required standards from the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for Visual Art.

In addition to our projects, artists in fourth and fifth grades will create an art journal/sketchbook to keep with us throughout the year. Journals are used to store information for assignments, practice drawing skills, and also used for our “art sparks.” Art sparks are challenging art questions randomly given at the beginning of class to access creativity and learning of our students.

Please feel free to have your child bring in a smock for art class. If you have any additional questions I can be contacted by phone or e-mail. I look forward to another wonderful year.

Thank you,

Mrs. Jarka
