My name is Ms. Mattingly and I am your General Music and Vocal Teacher at MIS! I am thrilled about the fun musical year ahead and have lots of exciting things in store like playing instruments, singing in a chorus, and lots of performance opportunities! Get ready to move, bang, and sing!

"Music enhances the education of our children by helping them to make connections and broadening the depth with which they think and feel. If we are to hope for a society of culturally literate people, music must be a vital part of our children's education."
-Yo-yo Ma
Music Education is my greatest passion in life. Introducing young children to the wonders of music inspires me daily to be a creative, thoughtful, and reflective educator. I strongly believe that a fun, interactive, community based music program is essential to the growth and well-being of young minds. It is my mission to help each and every child at CBS and MIS reach their fullest potential through music. I love music education because all people, especially children, benefit academically, physically, mentally, and emotionally from the effects of music making.

I graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in Music Education and concentration in Voice. I joke that I have been singing since birth, because I seriously cannot remember a time where I was not singing! I have consistently sung in choirs since Elementary School and have performed in hundreds of concerts with my choirs and solo. I have performed in venues such as The White House, Carnegie Hall, Princeton University, and St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, Austria. In addition to singing, I enjoy playing the guitar, ukulele, and piano. I go to as many concerts as I can and have seen so many amazing artists live including Pentatonix, Ariana Grande, Twenty One Pilots, Khalid, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and Harry Styles!

Outside of music, my favorite things to do are travel, bake, do arts and crafts, watch tv shows, kickbox, hangout with friends, and play with my three dogs. My favorite color is pink! Fun Fact: I have chickens in my backyard and make fresh eggs every morning.
During virtual learning in the 2020-2021 school year, we had virtual choir concerts! Check out our MIS performances here!
