Getting to know Mr. Kim!
This is Mr. Kim's eighth returning year at Bordentown Regional School District. Music has always been a big part of his life ever since his childhood. At the age of 3, he began to study privately on the piano with different local music educators. He strongly believes that starting with the piano as your first instrument truly helps with the foundation of music. At the age of 13, Mr. Kim has played for many wedding ceremonies, funerals, and religious services. Mr. Kim has stretched his knowledge beyond the piano/keyboard and began to study the clarinet under Gi Lee, Dr. Maureen Hurd and Jessica Phillips. Through their guidance, Mr. Kim graduated with Cum Laude at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts with a double major of Music Education and Music Performance: Clarinet.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Kim loves to teach privately to passionate students around the state. Many of his students have achieved high-earning chairs in regional level, state level, national level and participated in prestigious youth orchestras such as Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, PYAO, PYMO, Philadelphia Sinfonia, and music festivals. With his experience, many school districts has asked him throughout the school year to give masterclasses to students in their own district.
Mr. Kim's interests beyond the realm of music include watching European soccer (Barcelona), tennis and movies/musicals.
